What to Expect

Note: This information is related to the 2012 Spring Conference and will be updated for the Fall Conference as the date grows closer. The Fall Conference will likely be held at a new location that has yet to be determined.

BarcampRocksIf you’ve never attended a BarCamp conference event, you’re in for a treat!  Upon arriving at the conference location, you will pay a visit to the registration desk.  Please have your tickets in hand as they are your proof of registration for entry into the event (these are e-mailed to you immediately after you register online).  If you lose or forget your tickets we will have the names of those registered, up to the morning of the event, available as an alternate.  Please have your photo ID handy if you lose your tickets.

NOTE: If you do not register in advance, there is a $10 entry fee payable to G.WIZ.  If you are not on the pre-registration list you will have to pay.  There are no exceptions, so please have your pre-registration tickets or photo ID with you!

During registration, you will be given a wrist-band which will give you access to the conference event as well as the first-floor exhibits at G.WIZ.  You may visit any special exhibits that G.WIZ has available for a small fee payable to G.WIZ, though this is not required.

Once you’re through registration, proceed through to the main conference area.  There will be a scheduling desk where those interested in speaking can schedule their presentations.  This is also where the main schedule is posted.  It is updated throughout the day as presentations are added or moved around.  If you have a smartphone, we will also have a mobile web application with the schedule available for your convenience.

BarCamp SessionFrom there, choose a session that interests you and have fun!  BarCamp encourages participants to “vote with their feet” while attending the conference.  If a presentation isn’t working for you, feel free to visit another room instead.  You will see people coming and going throughout the conference.

Lunch will be provided (usually salads, pizza, and bottled water).  Feel free to bring your own lunch if you prefer.  Restrooms and water fountains are readily available.

The conference will run all weekend, but if you can only attend one day, we recommend Saturday.  More people tend to attend on Saturday so this will give you the best opportunity to network and attend a wide array of presentations.  Sunday will also provide a lot of outstanding content, but will not have the same networking opportunities and generally has fewer scheduled presentations.

While attending the event, we encourage the use of social media to let others know where the good presentations are.  Use the has tag #bcsrq on Twitter for tweets related to the conference.  Please feel free to share links to our website or the registration pages with your friends and colleagues.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please see our Conference FAQ or contact us.
